Submission Guidelines.
Submitting your work:
We're always seeking new and fresh talent to feature in LUMIN. Whether you're a writer with an interesting perspective or interest in a certain topic, or an illustrator or photographer who can bring stories to life, we’d love to learn more about your work. We are particularly interested in unique narratives and experiences of people of color and want to use our magazine to give them a platform to share with the world.
LUMIN accepts primarily creative non-fiction and visual art from all writers and artists. We are also open to Designers and Photographers.
To submit to the magazine, send an email to hello@luminmagazine.com with the subject line: “LUMIN Magazine Submission”: [Submitter’s Name] [Type of Submission]”. Submissions of writing must be attached to your email as a Word document.
Non-Fiction/Creative Non-Fiction: Send up to 2 pieces and no more than 8 pages within the well-living realm. You can also send a detailed pitch for an article idea/concept. Please send all pieces in one document with new pieces starting on a new page.
Artwork/Visual Pieces/Photography: Submissions of visual artwork must be attached to your email as a .png file of the highest quality resolution you can manage. You can send a link to a portfolio, but we would rather you send us your best work.
Poetry: On occasion, LUMIN accepts poetry for our publication. Send up to 3 pieces and no more than 6 pages. Please send all pieces in one Google Document with each title/poem starting on a new page.
Designers: Submit up to 3 samples of your work to the hello@luminmagazine.com email.
Please include a brief bio of about fifty (50) words with your submission. Please also include you social handles and/or website.
LUMIN Magazine accepts only unpublished work. We do accept simultaneous submissions, but please notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. You can submit to LUMIN as much as you’d like, but please wait to hear back from us before submitting again. We do not accept submissions that include slurs or hate speech.
Compensation:
There is currently no compensation for published works. Contributors featured in the magazine will receive a free digital copy of that issue. Contributors will be listed on The LUMIN Team page in the magazine along with their social handle, city, and state.
Blog submissions:
LUMIN Magazine accepts submissions specifically for the website! Blog submissions can be previously published works by the author or artist.

Email all submission requests to hello@luminmagazine.com and put Guest Post in subject line.
Submission does not guarantee publication. If we do not respond to your email request in four weeks, feel free to submit to other blogs and publications.
Please limit your post to 1000 - 1500 words.
In keeping with the spirit of LUMIN Magazine, blog ideas should relate somehow to life, health, adventure, peace, love, creativity, mindfulness and overall well being from the perspective of a person of color.
Once your guest post has been accepted you will be placed in the queue, so depending how many posts are in the queue, will determine your publishing date. We will make every attempt to contact you a day or two before it goes live.
Post must be high-quality, and original content is preferred.

There will be no affiliate links in your post and if the article seems to be SEO driven or too PR related, your post will be denied.
All guest posts must be grammatically correct and free of spelling errors.
We will only edit posts for minor grammar mistakes and add contextual links to the related articles from our blog.
